This is a simple out-and-back on singletrack that threads the area between the reservoir and the highway. Start at either end, look for the ST and stick with it. In a couple places, the ST will merge with a dirt road briefly or end at a parking lot making you look for where it picks up on the other side. It's usually easy to find and impossible to get lost.
From Ogden, head up Ogden Canyon (Hwy 39 aka 1200 South or 12th St). Turn left across the dam at Pineview Reservoir. The southern trailhead starts at the first big parking lot on the right. The Northern trailhead starts from the first parking lot on the right after you pass the water and the highway bears right almost 90 degrees.
